I think the title speaks for itself.
I do have a legitimate excuse for this one. For some reason my foundation wasn't looking right. Well not right is quite an understatement, it looked horrible! I even tried multiple brands, formulas, and application methods when my go-to didn't work.
The solution? A trip to Sephora to check my Color IQ ID number.
It's a good thing I went. I went from 1Y06 to 2Y06. I know that it doesn't seem like much of a change, I didn't think it was either at the time. To put it in perspective I was 22 in Sephora's 10 hour foundation and now I am 26! It's amazing what one number can change.
I swear things just kept appearing in my shopping tote.
1. Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation | $55
This is the best foundation I have ever put on my face...period. I was reluctant at first when the associate suggested it. Liquid foundations and I don't get along well, as I've mentioned before. I explained my concerns. She smiled and asked if I would be willing to at least try it on. It seems this foundation was made for my skin. It applies smooth as silk and feels so soft I kept on wanting to touch my face. I didn't get shiny, not even a little. The coverage lasted all day, even with how warm it was. The ingredients are to die for, and the best part? NO SETTING POWDER! Not only has this foundation made my dreams come true, but it's eliminated a product out of my routine. I could continue to rave about this product, but we have much more to get to.
2. Smashbox Master Class 3 Color and Contour Palette | $65

2. Smashbox Master Class 3 Color and Contour Palette | $65
For some obnoxious reason Smashbox cosmetics just do not work for me. I don't know if it's the ingredients or what, but this is the third (or fourth) time they have disappointed me. BUT! I am sending this to Ashleigh so expect to hear more about it from her.
3. Sephora + Pantone Universe Venus Lure Lip Balm in Rosebud | $11 (Sale Price)
All I can say is I failed at resisting marketing on this one. Pretty box, pretty product, pretty name, pretty shade...on sale...I was doomed.
That being the case I was 99% positive Ashleigh had raved about it over the phone. If not, well I like it. The color is extremely buildable, and honestly flat out gorgeous. I don't love it for two reasons. First, it tingles just slightly more than I'm comfortable with. Second, it is a little on the greasy side. That wont stop me from wearing it though.
4. Beautyblender in Royal | $19.95
Not much to say about this. It's a regular beautyblender in a Sephora exclusive color. I swear I don't have a purple problem.
5. Beautyblender Solid Blendercleanser | $15.95
Travel friendly, key word being travel.
6. Sephora Three's a Crowd Pleaser | $5 (Sale Price)
On the off chance that my new foundation doesn't keep the shine down in the long run I picked up this trio of blotting papers. I really liked the concept of having three different types of blotting paper in one kit.
7. Tarte Amazonian Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel | $21
This product is Tarte's take of Benefit's Gimme Brow. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I can tell you it smells much better than Benefit's which is why it won out. I purchased the shade Rich Brown.
8. Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette | $38
I purchased this over the Lorac Pro 2. I even went back to Sephora after a stop at Ulta to get it. Now, before you think I'm crazy the reasoning is simple. The Lorac Pro 2 shades just don't work with my skintone and eye color, which is the same reason I have Naked and Naked3, but not Naked2. This palette on the other hand...nearly had me drooling. Not only are the eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, and highlighter perfect complements to my skintone, but the packaging itself....I could just sit and pet it.
9. Korres Lip Butter | $12
I've been dying to get my hands on this product, but I wanted to feel the texture in person. My store finally had them so I tried them out and ended up getting two. One in Wild Rose, the other in Jasmine.
~FREEBE TIME~
These were free samples/products I got using my reward points. I have listed the price for reference.
Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner | $24
I got this deluxe mini for moving up in Sephora's reward program. I know it's supposed to make things easier, but it's not something I'm used to yet. I guess time will tell.
Smashbox 24 hr. Photo Finish Shadow Primer | $20
This was a sample one of the associates made up for me. I almost refused the sample just due to my love for the Urban Decay primer potions. I decided not to kick a gift horse in the mouth. We'll see how it goes.
Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 410/Coral | $26
This was a sample thrown into my bag at purchase. The little booklet it came in raves about 16 shades that work with any skintone.Excuse me while I go find some real coral to shove...Ahem...I should just move on.
GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment | $69
Another sample put into my bag at purchase. I have (so far) only heard good things about this brand. I admit it's not one I have tried before due to the price point. Normally if I purchase moderate or high end price point products it's because I have sampled them or Ashleigh tells me I'll die without it. The sample is only enough for a single use so I doubt I'll learn enough to purchase.
Living proof Prime Style Extender | $12 to 20
The last free sample thrown into my bag at purchase. As it is a hair product and hair is just as individual as skin type and tone your mileage may vary...but I regret putting this into my hair. I had to re-wash my hair after application and even then it continued to weigh my hair down.
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer | $18 to 72
I used 100 of my rewards points to sample this primer. I have worn it twice in store, but that was someone else applying it and not over an extended period. Now I can try it out for a few consecutive days to see if I want to stick with my Tarte primer or switch to this. As I mentioned before, I always try and sample high price point products so I don't kick myself later.
Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial | $45
Another sample I used 100 rewards points for. I've wanted to sample a few Korres products and this was one of them. It's nice when things work out.
That's it for this haul day. I guess it wasn't TOO horrible. After all, my last trip to Sephora was almost 10 months ago.
