Last year my hair looked like this....
It was so long that I tucked the length of my ponytail into my hood. As a ballet dancer I have had long hair my whole life, that is until April 2013. Wind, hay bail twine, and bad luck led to this photo being taken at my local salon.

I went from extra long to extra short in 40 minutes. Now how on earth was I going to adjust?
Not to mention everyone says I look a lot better, but that's a different story.
The downsides were simple, there are only two. The first being that I have to wear hats and scarves more than I used to. This is because my hair no longer covers my ears and the back of my neck so I get cold much easier. It could be considered a plus however, as now I have a valid reason to accessorize.
The second downside? I had no idea how to style or work with short hair! I had a 5 minute conversation with my hair stylist about what to do, other than that I was on my own. Now that it has been close to a year of having my hair short and testing out various products there are three that I want to share with you.
Sadly the Sexy Hair company has discontinued the Short Sexy Hair line. It has been replaced by the Style Sexy Hair line. My assumption is that they wanted to market their products to all hair types and lengths. Once I run out of my current jar of this I will try out the new line and give you all a review.
This product gives texture, definition, and depending on how much I use I can go from slightly messy to full on spikes. The downside is if I apply it to my hair damp it has very little holding power and I have to add hair spray over it. If I use a small amount on my dry hair it works great, but when using the larger amounts I have noticed if I'm not very careful about working it all into my hair it can leave a very obvious residue. It's not very sticky and has a delicate fragrance.
Overall I do like this product, just remember if you purchase it to not fall in love with it as it's no longer being produced.
This product has some serious holding power! I used it to give myself a mohawk (minus the shaved sides of course) and no matter what I did it stayed put until I took a shower. Even then it took a few minutes of water running over my hair for it to fall.
The product claims to be non-sticky, but I can tell you that's a lie. Of all the new hair products I've tried in the past year this one is the stickiest. That being said, the holding power it has without turning your hair completely crunchy makes the stickiness tolerable. This product also claims it has no flakes. As I don't try to comb or brush my hair out before I shower when I use this product I can't vouch for the validity of that claim. Though truth be told with any products of this type chances are when you do go to comb or brush you're going to have some product residue flakes.
I have my fingers crossed that this product has not been discontinued. It is not listed on the companies' website. I have contacted them to ask because if it has been discontinued I am buying every jar I can get my hands on!
Out of the three products I've shared with you today this one is my favorite. It's holding power is better than the Short Sexy Hair, but not as strong as the Got2b. It also adds shine to my style, which the other products lacked. It has the best fragrance of the three and is also at the lowest price point. The lid is a flip top lid so you can remove the product seal without worry that it is going to stick to the lid and make a mess when you open it.
Downside to this product? I don't have one. I am eagerly awaiting the response from the company and once I have it I will share the information with all of you.
Here is a side by side look at these three products:
Best Hold - Got2b > Not Your Mother's > Short Sexy Hair
Best Spike Definition - Got2b > Not Your Mother's > Short Sexy Hair
Lowest Residue - Short Sexy Hair > Not Your Mother's > Got2b
Best Shine - Not Your Mother's > Short Sexy Hair > Got2b
Best Fragrance - Not Your Mother's > Short Sexy Hair > Got2b
Lowest Crunch Factor - Short Sexy Hair > Not Your Mother's > Got2b
Till next time!
~Amanda
