Frantic Friday - Polar Vortex

I know, I've been bad. I haven't been posting regularly like Ashleigh, but we have had some extreme weather in my part of the country for the past few weeks. Now that power has been restored welcome back to...

Inspired by the bad weather I thought I would share a quick way to look good while protecting your skin from the bitter cold. Father winter can be a huge hindrance when it comes to the health of your skin. Cold air dries your face out, your face produces excess oil to compensate, and it never ends well.

I always start with my trio of face products. As to not repeat myself you can see what I use to wash, tone, and moisturize my face in my last post Frantic Friday - The Ballerina.

Moisture is so important for your face during the winter. That is why instead of using foundation or a BB/CC cream I use a tinted sunscreen.

Now wait a moment, you're all probably thinking I've gone off the deep end. Sunscreen...in winter? You bet! The reason is two fold, first it has extra moisturizing properties. Secondly the sun can do just as much damage in the winter. Especially when reflecting off of a fresh snowfall!

Not only does it help keep my face moisturized, but it gives just enough coverage that I don't have to use anything else on my face. No powder, nothing. I am currently using the unscented variety but I may test out their other products in the mineral line once I run out of this one.

As I have mentioned many times before I have very sensitive skin. If I get mascara or eyeshadow into my eyes, or I leave my makeup on too long it's miserable. It makes using makeup even more difficult in the winter as the cold wind loves causing my eyes to water and my makeup to slip into my eyes.

Solution? Natural and organic products. Both of the following brands came to me through Birchbox. I owe Birchbox (and Ipsy) a lot for helping me discover my favorites as I am dependent on the internet to get most of my products.

The best part about these four products is they stay without my UD primer potion! Saves time, and saves my primer potion for my other products. The mascara works great with my lashes AND doesn't clump. The colors in the creamsticks can be used so many different ways that I can change my look and not get bored using the same products day after day. I don't know what else I could ask for from these products. I could complain about price, but due to the high quality ingredients, their performance, and what other cosmetics cost I can't say a word.

That just leaves what I use on my lips. I avoid cheek tints when it's cold as the temperature makes them rosy without the extra help. I have not had dry or chapped lips once this season and I attribute it to these two products.

The reason I use two products is because I want to seal in the Vitality Lip Flush so it can do it's job. The tinted lip balm covers it without being too thick and the color complements the products I used on my eyes.

Seven products for a complete look. Six if you choose to use only one of the dual ended creamsticks. Not only is it a fast look, but a healthy one.

Now it just needs to start warming up!
