Welcome to...
Primer Edition!
After two delays, I'm finally ready to name my top two primers, so let's get it started!
1. Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-Hour Perfecting Primer - Available at Ulta for $30
This primer is my go to. It makes my skin super smooth & helps my makeup stay throughout the day. It does help make my pores less noticeable under my makeup. The silicone feel it has really helps makeup glide on, making application that much easier. I do not notice any extra hydrating from this product, but it also doesn't seem to make dry patches more obvious.
2. Boots No 7 Photofix Wrinkle Filler and Primer - Available at Drugstore.com for $19.99
This primer is on the higher end of drugstore, but the extra cost is worth it. It isn't as great as the Tarte at making pores less noticeable, but it does hold it's own. This primer has a different feel to it, it's more like a cream. The smell is a little strong at first, but once it's blended over the skin you don't notice it anymore. This definitely doesn't have any extra hydrating properties, in fact the directions even go as far as to mention to use it over moisturized skin.
Honorable Mention:
It Cosmetics Feel the Moment Anti-Aging Ultra Hydrating Sensory Awakening Primer Serum - Available at Ulta for $38
This is a product that was vying for a top slot on this list. Unfortunately it has a couple things working against it that kept it from winning either of the top two slots. First the smell is very strong! Yeah, it wears off after a while but it is SO strong at first it's overwhelming! Second, it's not the best at making my makeup last. It's good points are what gave it the honorable mention. It's SUPER hydrating. Sometimes I wear it just on it's own because I feel it's sometimes more hydrating than some of my moisturizers. Also, it does make my skin obnoxiously smooth, which does help makeup just glide over it, I just wish it helped it last longer.
Check back next week for my Top Two Matte Foundations!
