Well it's that time again!
Sorry I was MIA last week. I was fighting some health issues as was my boyfriend, we had some car troubles and it was just a bad week. I'm here now though!
Welcome to Top Two Tuesday, the matte foundation edition.
I don't know about you but sometimes I just don't want shine/sparkle/luminosity of any kind in my look, and that starts with my foundation. I find that matte foundations have more coverage and last longer on my skin since it takes longer for my natural oils to break down the formula.
My shade is 1N2 Ecru
This is a foundation that Emily from BeautyBroadcast turned me on to. She raved so much about the coverage and how long it lasted. I had to try it and boy am I glad I did! First off, even though this foundation is matte it doesn't look cakey or painfully obvious on my skin, except for the first time I used it when I used wayyyy too much! Trust me when I say a little goes a long way with this product. I usually use my fingers to apply to my skin and then use a Sigma Rounded Kabuki brush (F82) or my Beauty Blender to blend it out. The coverage is amazing, usually I just need a little something extra to help with my dark circles and then I'm set. I do always set with a power, not that it needs it, but it just gives it that extra boost in staying power.
Note: Even though you can buy this online I highly suggest going to a counter to get color matched.
2. Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme - Available at drugstore.com for $13.99
My color is 110 Ivory
While the first foundation was more mid-range in price, this one is more affordable but still on the higher end of drugstore. I've seen this at any store that sells drugstore makeup, but I believe I purchased it at Target. When I told Amanda this foundation was going on this post she argued that it wasn't matte, but on my skin I find that it is, so be aware of that. It has very buildable coverage and is easy to work with. Again I use my fingers to apply and then buff out. The main reason for that is because of the packaging. The foundation is too thick to go into most traditional packaging so as you can see from the picture it is in a pot. I don't really care for the excessive packaging here. I really think it could be half this size without losing any product, since the pot itself seems to be mostly glass with very little product. It makes storing and traveling difficult. This foundation really needs a setting power over it but use a light hand cause it doesn't take much.
Check in later this week for a post on what I believe are the best investments into my collection, and also for Amanda's Frantic Friday post!
Next week we'll be going over my favorite foundations that aren't matte, aka my skin-finish, satin finish or luminous finish foundations. I'm lumping all three of these into one post because I just don't have enough favorites from each to justify three individual posts.
See ya later.
