Frantic Friday - One Take on the 10 Minute Face

It's so hard to believe that it's already here, but as the calendar doesn't lie welcome back to

Let's start with a note of nothing but pure honesty before we get to the fun stuff.

I am one of the least photogenic people I know. If someone mentions I look great and want a photo, be it for social media or makeup ideas, I run....and fast! Nobody can quite figure out why the camera and I don't get along, but it's been that way my entire life. Why on earth am I telling you this? To explain the lack of photos in my previous posts.
When talking on the phone with Ashleigh the other day she made a comment along these lines.
"If you are going to post a makeup look, you need pictures of the look."
My reply? Yes, I know pictures help show what the look's end result is, but I don't photograph well.
Her response was simple. She knew, but it had to be done.
So here's to sucking it up and including photos!

Now onto the important part!

Today I wanted to share one of my 10 minute face routines. Are they ideal? No, not by any means. That being the case they're important to have in your bag of tricks. In the photo above (taken all of 10 minutes ago) I had slept a total of 6 hours in the past 48. While awake I was busy with farm work/chores, cleaning, cooking, trips into town, and sewing dance shoes. Taking all that into account, you would never know by looking at me. I was told today by one of the clerks at a local store that I looked great. When I told her I was running on nearly no sleep and spent 8 minutes on my makeup she didn't believe me!

How did I do it? Frankly, it's pretty darn easy.

This is one of the few brands I am willing to spend very large amounts of my paycheck on. I got this as a sample with their veil primer. I love it! Illusion really is the key word of this product. It acts as a moisturizer and a medium coverage foundation without need for a primer or setting powder. As of today I have run out. Sadly for me, the color I use is out of stock everywhere. I guess I'm just going to have to wait!

This product look familiar? I know I've talked about it before, but repeating it here proves that I use it! It does lengthen and add volume, but not as much as some other brands. It can also end up under your eyes on a particularly warm day. The simple solution to keeping it where it belongs is to remember less is more with this product.

When I first started to wear makeup regularly, and not just once or twice a year, this was one of the first things Ashleigh stuck in my basket at Ulta. When in a hurry, I just swipe some on my finger and gently pat my eyelids to apply. It stays fairly well without primer, but I wouldn't say the claim of 24 hour staying power is true.

This is another product that I use my finger to apply. I pat it onto the top of my cheekbones only and then use my fingers to blend it in. Even though this product is baked it has very low powder residue and does not feel or look chalky.

This has become an essential staple. I always use it, and I make sure that under any circumstances I wont run out. It's everything you would expect from a lip balm, and more. I only have to apply it once or twice a day. Occasionally I will use a different product as a base if applying color, but I always end up regretting it and wish I had used this instead.

In 8 minutes with only 5 products you can go from looking like a zombie, and trust me...it was that bad, to an apparently well rested and fresh faced individual.

Coming up from me in the next few weeks you'll see subscription box reviews, product reviews, and next Friday I will share another take on the 10 minute face with BEFORE and AFTER photos!

Till then!

~Amanda
