Birchbox Limited Edition Home Sweet Homespun Review

Hello Everyone!

As you all know I am madly in love with Birchbox. The products they offer, their blog, and my monthly sample box all put a smile on my face. You can find out more information and join to get your own monthly sample box for only $10 a month by going here.

Every so often and during the holidays Birchbox creates Limited Edition boxes with full sized products and deluxe samples that you can purchase at an amazing discount. Normally I pass, but when they came out with their Home Sweet Homespun box I couldn't resist!

Note: For February, Birchbox is offering this Limited Edition box as a Birchbox Plus option! Not only that, but it's at a reduced price of only $29! I've added one as my Birchbox Plus option and I think you should too!

Let's take a closer look at this Limited Edition box, and why I think everyone should get one before they sell out!

Home Sweet Homespun | $40

1. Soak Handmaid Luxury Hand Creme in Fig | $10
Birchbox has done it again. As you know from a previous review the Camille Beckman hand cream from my October 2014 box instantly became my favorite. This hand cream just took the top spot! This hand cream is lightweight, non-greasy, and keeps my hands soft as a baby's bottom. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the Fig fragrance but I'm actually madly in love with it. I've been caught just smelling the bottle more than once.

2. Richer Poorer Women's Socks | $12
These are the most comfortable socks I have ever put on my feet. They are made from a cotton blend and are thicker than your average everyday socks. The patterns are adorable and the fact my pair was green just added brownie points. They fit wonderfully on my smaller (Size 6 to 7) feet which is great because normally heels on socks hit above my heel instead of on it.

*3. Askinosie Single Origin Sipping Chocolate | $16.50
If I had to describe this hot chocolate I would say it's worthy of royalty. Instead of being a powder, the mix is actual nibs of cocoa. It only contains 3 ingredients (Cocoa beans, organic sugar, and cocoa butter) which add to it's appeal. Serving size is not large (4 to 5 tablespoons of milk + the cocoa nibs) but with how rich, creamy, and delicious it is you don't need more than that.

4. Makerskit Hanging Photo Clip Project Kit | $24
This D.I.Y. hanging collage kit is a ton of fun. You can use it to display photos, birthday/holiday cards, or use it to enhance a student project if you have kids/are a student. My only suggestion is to make sure the glue dries completely before trying to clip your media of choice on so that it does not transfer.

5. Illume Mini Tin Candle in Noble Currant | $9
Proof that good things come in small packages. This soy and beeswax blend candle has a burn time of approximately 25 hours. The scent is fruity but has woody undertones that keep it from smelling too sweet. It also has a touch of sherry which I think makes it a more refined fragrance for lack of a better term. I will be purchasing more of these in their other fragrances as this little dude manages to keep a large room smelling wonderful.

*6. COWSHED Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm | $8
I'm extremely picky when it comes to lip balm. So picky in fact that I only ever use one (Honest Co. Organic Lip Balm) no matter what time of year. I went ahead and tried this out after using my LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub just to say I tried it. I have to say I'm in love. It's a thicker formula than I'm used to, and it comes in a squeeze tube instead of your typical lip balm tube. I will continue to use my go-to balm but when I my lips need a little extra TLC I'll be using this instead.

7. Meri Meri Little Garden Treat Kit | $12.95
This is another D.I.Y. kit. It's the perfect addition to any homemade edibles you plan on gifting. The kit comes with bags, colorful twine, and 18 gift tags in 3 different designs. One of the tag designs (Naughty but Nice) is centered around Christmas use, but the other two designs can be used year round.

8. Milk Bar Cornflake Chocolate Marshmallow Cookie Mix | $16
They always say save the best for last, and in this case I think I did. It may be boring, but Cornflakes have always been one of my favorite cereals. Throw in marshmallows and chocolate into the mix and viola! These cookies are just to die for. They're large, chewy, and have the perfect ratio of ingredients. I can't really describe how yummy these cookies are without being dirty, so if you're on the fence about trying this, or any other cookie mix from Momofuku Milk Bar....DO IT!!!
Or if you're lucky enough to be in NYC or Toronto stop by the shop.

~

Overall I think this box is thoughtfully put together and an amazing value. There wasn't a single thing in this box I didn't love!

See you next time!

~Amanda
