It's time for a
post!
I'm really excited for this month's subscription box reviews, and here's why.
The past few months, almost everything in my Ipsy subscription was a no go. I was allergic to 90% of the products I got. The few things that were okay were not worth the $10/month to me. After waiting for two more months to see if things would get better I ended up canceling my subscription.
Sad? Yes, but it meant I was able to sign up for a new box! Soon my first Julep Maven box will ship and I'll have a review for you all.
As always I love, love, love my Birchbox. If you're thinking about joining a subscription box it's the one both Ashleigh and I recommend first. You can join here.
Let's see what I got this month!
1. Sage & Fasten in Onward | $29 - $50
I am not a huge perfume fan, let alone for citrus only scents. This one however was a great surprise. I don't know if it's the grapefruit or the green apple in it, but whatever it is I like it. It's light, but not so light that you wonder where the scent went 5 minutes after application. It lasts a long time for being so light. Touch ups are minimal to none. With a low to moderate price point for a perfume I will be looking into this brand's other scents as well.
2. Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy in Tuscan Honey | $13.95
I remember when the body butter from this brand made it's debut at Birchbox. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now that I got this sample I will be getting this and the body butter in full size. The texture is amazing, and one little dab has kept my hands soft all day. The smell is heavenly! What I love is you can smell it when you apply it, but it fades fairly quickly. That way it doesn't compete with any perfume you put on before or after.
3. ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty | 3 for $24
This was the product I selected to be one of my samples this month. I had received the shade Get Naked in a previous box and loved the formula, so a second shade was a no brainer. Kitty is a beautiful baby pink mauve. For me it's one of those my lips but better shades. The formula itself is hydrating, semi-matte, and has great wear time. It doesn't need to be blotted, but if you do the finish is more matte. Both the shades I have are from the Neutrals trio.
4. Beautyblender + Mini Solid Cleanser | $25
Ashleigh and I both LOVE our Beautyblenders. When I saw Birchbox was sampling them this month I thought I would be out of luck since I assumed if you selected a sample you wouldn't get one. I needed a new one, but on the off chance I got one in my box I held off on buying one. Well lucky for me I got one in my box. This really is my favorite makeup tool. My Hourglass foundations apply flawlessly with this, even though sponge application is not recommended. I think everyone should own a Beautyblender.
5. Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner | $45
This is a great problem area mask. You apply a thin layer of the clear gel over any blackheads or troubled areas two or three times a week. What I love about this is you know when it's time to rinse it off. The clear gel turns to a blue-ish white once it's done working. This mask will dry your skin out, so make sure to follow with a moisturizer. I find my Origins Clear Improvement mask is just as effective for $20 less, so I wont be getting this in full size. It's nice to have for skin emergencies though.

That's it for what I got in my Birchbox this month. Keep your eyes out for my first Julep Maven review and my 2014 Halloween tutorial!
