It's time for another monthly review. This time it's my glam bag from Ipsy!
This month Ipsy's theme was far different than Birchbox's. I found it interesting as usually they are on the same lines or the themes are complimentary. No idea if it's done on purpose or not. With that in mind let's check out what I got.
Here is a screenshot I took of my glam room. I included the products I did not get as well so you can see what the options were this month. Ipsy does not sample as many products per month as Birchbox, but the samples are more often full sized products. Want another quick comparison? Birchbox samples higher price point products while Ipsy samples moderate and lower price points. Naturally this month they proved me wrong by sampling some higher priced items and brands. I'm not complaining!
As you can see, Beauty Rocks was the theme for Ipsy this month. I'm not a fan of the bag design itself, but I am happy they used a record player and not an MP3 player. After all, we are talking rock and roll here!
This is one of many new eyeliners Urban Decay has come out with this Spring. It is currently only available in one color, Black Velvet. It doesn't have that inky black look like the standard black shades of the 24/7 liner, it's softer. Don't get me wrong, it's still black as night. If you smudge/smoke out your normal black eyeliner this product does it for you on it's own, saving you time. Here is a swatch comparing it to Urban Decay's 24/7 Original in Zero. When I washed them off my hand the Velvet was MUCH harder to remove.
I was honestly shocked to see something from this brand in my bag this month. It's one of my favorites. Sadly it's not one of the products I can use. This would be way too harsh for my sensitive skin. That's not even going into how much the product costs. I am passing this product on to one of my co-workers and if she let's me know her thoughts on it I'll share them with you.
The brand of the infamous Lash Card is branching out. This eyeshadow is the latest product of the 4 products the brand offers. The shadow is currently available in 3 shades. I was very surprised by the quality of this shadow. It was smooth and applied much like my Lorac Pro shadows. The color I got was Champagne, which lucky for me accents my green eyes. Powder residue with eyeshadow is one of my pet peeves, so not having any was another plus to this shadow.

I admit, I know a few people who sell Mary Kay. One of my high school friends, neighbors, the list goes on. I can honestly say I do not care for Mary Kay products. I have tried them on multiple occasions to support those I know that sell. Every time I use the product once, maybe twice and then it goes in a drawer and never sees the light of day until I end up throwing it away. Why? For the cost of the product, the products performances, and the not skin friendly ingredients it's just not worth it. That being said, here is what I thought of this product and a swatch. I'm willing to try anything at least once!
The ONLY thing I liked about this gloss is the nude shade was one of the few nude lip products I can wear without it looking strange. The rest was a disaster! I love lip gloss, so if it's sticky I'll live with it. This however was even too sticky for me! Then I went to take it off and it did not want to budge. Once I finally got the product off it had stained my lips. Really? I tried to cover it up with another product, because the resulting color of my lips was reminiscent of Pantone's color of the year. While I love Radiant Orchid, Ashleigh is the one who can rock the shade, not me. Every color I tried to cover it with was altered, either by the stain or residual chemicals. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but this will not be going anywhere near my lips again!

Fine hair? Limp? Not enough va-va-voom? This product will fix it all. I transition using this with Big Sexy Hair Powder Play depending on my mood. This is easier to apply than the Powder Play and gives hold where the Powder Play adds volume discretely with no hold. It's very much a pick your poison situation.
That's it for my Subscription Boxes this month. Keep your eyes open for the return of Frantic Friday and some surprises!
